An overview of Prof. Hazem Halim's educational background, qualifications, and teaching appointments.
Prof. Hazem Halim
Hazem studied hotel management in Helwan University before commencing a research and teaching career in this area. He graduated in 1991 with excellent honours. In 1997, he obtained his MSc in the field of education and training from the same university and then completed his PhD in human resource management from the Manchester Metropolitan University, England in 2002. Hazem is a senior fellow in the Higher Education Academy, UK (SFHEA).
He assumed an academic career at the department of hotel management, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Suez Canal University in 1995. He was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in 2008, then to a Full Professor of human resource management at the same University in 2013. In 2010, he joined the Business Administration Department at the British University in Egypt, and then assumed the role of the Acting Head of Department in 2011 to 2013 and the Director of the MBA Programme from 2016 to 2024 where he validated two full fledged MBA academic programmes two times consecutively.
Hazem is an expert in the preparation and execution of educational and training programmes. His industrial and unique academic experience has helped him to devise and conduct numerous undergraduate, postgraduate and professional educational and training programmes; both inside and outside Egypt. He also executed auditing programmes to few hotels in Cairo. Hazem has worked in a teaching and consulting capacity in many different universities, institutions and academic bodies in Egypt and abroad. He also had a wide number of research responsibilities. He supervised a number of MSc and PhD students involved in projects on human resource management practices.
Hazem has published several research studies in the area of performance management, employee resourcing, employee development, employee minimum wage, psychometric analysis, and emotional intelligence. In addition, he is currently a research associate at the centre of hospitality and employment research (CHER), England and a member of the Egyptian Society of Scientific Experts on Tourism "ESSET", Egypt. Moreover, Hazem is a certified behaviour and attitude assessor from TTI Insight, USA.
Hazem also worked as an organizational development and human resource management consultant for distinguished consultancy companies in the past 18 years. He utilized his concepts and academic methodologies to successfully accomplish many assignments both in the public and private sectors. Hazem has successfully completed projects of the following nature: full re-structuring process; performance management and performance measurement; building selection and recruitments systems; building salary structures, and building capacities of employees based on psychometric assessments.
